Annual Shut-Down 2018

August 8, 2018 - 9:33pm

Our shop and workshop will be closed for our annual shutdown for 3 weeks from 8th September to 29th September 2018.

As we only make mattresses and futons to order, if you do want a delivery before we close then let us know in enough time to get your order made up and despatched, our lead time at the moment is about 10 days. During our shutdown the workshop will be completely closed and so there will be no manufacturing or sending out parcels.

We are heading south and will be camping in France and Spain, but we will be in email contact as much as we can, so you can still ask questions and place provisional orders. It can get quite busy for the first few weeks after we re-open, but we will do our absolute best to accommodate urgent delivery dates!

Easter and May Closing

April 9, 2017 - 9:47pm

We will be closed for a couple of days over Easter - Thursday 13th April, as well as the regular Good Friday 14th April and Easter Monday 17th April. We will also be closed for a week in May but haven't finalised dates yet. We will be posting details as soon as we have them!

Annual Shut-Down 2016

April 11, 2016 - 11:42am

Our shop and workshop will be closed, as usual, for our annual shutdown for a month from 26th April to 26th May. Our last official day for despatch before we close will be Friday 22nd of April although there may be the possibility to despatch any last minute mattresses or futons (but not smaller parcels) on Monday 25th April.

As we only make mattresses and futons to order, if you do want a delivery before the end of May then let us know as soon as possible so that there is enough time to get your order made up and despatched in the next two weeks. During our shutdown the workshop will be completely closed and so there will be no manufacturing or sending out parcels.

We are heading south and will be camping in France, Spain and Portugal during this time, but we will be in email contact as much as sensibly (!) possible, so you can still ask questions and place provisional orders. It can get quite busy for the first few weeks after we open, and we already have orders booked in for when we return, but we will do our absolute best to accommodate urgent delivery dates!

Christmas Ordering and Closing

December 6, 2015 - 9:17pm

We are planning that our last day for despatch will be Friday 18th December, for delivery the following Monday the 21st. So please let us know as soon as possible if you want to order a mattress or futon for delivery before Christmas, we are fast running out of manufacturing slots! We will try to fit a few extra slots in the week of the 21st if we possibly can, but

We will be re-opening fully on Tuesday 12th January. We are spending the week before, from Tuesday 5th January, re-organising our workshop, so it is possible to contact us then but we won't be manufacturing anything.

Our prices will be going up at the start of the new year. We have absorbed a lot of material (fabric, wool, latex and coir) and transport price rises over the last 18 months and although we really do try to keep our own prices as low as we can we have been forced to revise our costs. It is possible to order with a 20% deposit before Christmas, at the current prices, for making and delivery in the new year.

Closed For A Week In November

October 27, 2015 - 9:53pm

We are going to be closed for a week - from the 9th until the 14th of November. We are off to Switzerland to take part in a seminar with Mark Rashid on Aikido and Horsemanship - our two passions, apart from Dojo EcoShop, of course! We are making sure all manufacturing is up to date and so generally it shouldn't really affect lead times, but if you know that you need a mattress or futon before 9th November, or soon after the 14th, then let us know as soon as possible. We will still be checking emails while we are away so you can still get in touch with us.

September Holidays

September 5, 2015 - 10:39pm

Just a reminder that Dojo will be closed for 2 weeks from 7th September to 21st September. We re-open the workshop on Tuesday 22nd September. We will be checking emails and messages on the workshop phone where we can, but as we're going to be camping (in Wales!) we might not be able to respond as promptly as usual, but we'll do our best!

If you know that you will need an order quickly then let us know by email whilst we are closed and we will pencil you in to the work schedule for our return. Please put your contact number on any emails as over sensitive spam filters sometimes mean that our email replies don't reach their destinations (its always worth checking Junk / Spam too if you haven't heard from us).

Annual Shut Down

April 28, 2015 - 2:01pm

Just a reminder about our 2015 annual shut down this year as it's coming up soonish. We will be closed for 3 weeks from Monday 25th May until Thursday 18th June. We will be camping in Italy but should be able to stay in touch by email so you can still contact us for information or even to place orders during our closed period.

We tend to get very busy in the couple of weeks before and after our shut down so remember to take this into account if you are planning on ordering a mattress or futon! The lead time at the moment is 7 - 10 days, depending on what products are ordered. If you are not sure about timescales then just give us a ring - between 10.30 and 4.30 is usually best, either side of those times and we can sometimes be involved in orders coming in and out, but you can always leave a message and we will return your call.

Just a further reminder about emailing us generally. We always answer emails asap, usually the same day and always within two days. But, due to over enthusiastic spam/junk filters, some of our replies never reach their destination. If you have emailed us and haven't heard anything check your spam/junk/trash (sometimes we have suggested that people look there and they have found all sorts of important things!). If you can't find a reply from us there then it may not even have got to you before being blocked, so give us a call or email us with a contact number. We promise not to keep calling you and never pass any details on to anyone else!

Christmas/New Year Ordering

December 2, 2014 - 10:05pm

Well we have had our first properly cold few days here and as December has now arrived we are beginning to plan our manufacturing schedule for the rest of the year. Our very last day for sending goods out before Christmas will be Monday 22nd of December, then we will be closed in between Christmas and New Year and back open the week starting the 5th of January.

We usually get really busy for orders coming up to Christmas so remember to allow a 2 week lead time if you know that you want delivery of a futon or mattress by the 23rd of December. We will always try to fit short notice orders in if we possibly can, so just give us a ring to check. We also tend to have a lot of mattress and futon orders in January, remember that if you know what you want to order you can make the order before Christmas for delivery in the new year - we can hold off payment until January, but we will put you into our manufacturing schedule for the first couple of weeks in January and ahead of the rush...

Welshpool Workshop

December 2, 2014 - 10:00pm

We are coming up to a full year at our 'temporary' workshop in Welshpool. Refurbishment work at our Manchester site has been much delayed for one reason or another (familiar to anyone undergoing a building project!) and we still don't have a start date for building work, which will take about 6 months once it gets going. So we are really starting to feel at home in our country setting. We love the green hills in front and the red kites spinning overhead our little workplace.

Having been running a pop up shop in Manchester for most of this year on a Friday and a Saturday, by appointment, we have finally cleared everything out and will now be setting up an area in our place in Welshpool for people to try out mattresses and futons. Again this will be by appointment only.

I know Welshpool is off most people's route but there are some lovely things to do while you are here if you fancy a day out, all within 20 minutes of us (some are closed in the winter) - wander the Italianate garden terraces of Powis Castle, take a steam train on the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway, or a boat on the Montgomery Canal, hike along Offa's Dyke footpath which passes close the town, or Glyndwr's Way which ends (or starts?) here, there is quirky fabulousness at the Andrew Logan Museum of Sculpture, wonderful food and gardens at Glansevern Hall and the ruined, but recognisable, castles at Montgomery and Dolforwyn.

Emailing Us

October 14, 2014 - 11:12pm

Email's great, it's so quick - in comes an enquiry and out goes our reply, same day if we can. Even if it's quite a complex and individual set of questions (which it often is). Communication complete, hooray!

Except that it's often, in fact far too often, not like that. We always reply to emails. Usually the same day, sometimes next day if we have to get some information together. But always, always within two days. We spend quite a lot of our working time replying to emails. Because of the nature of what we do we get a lot of very specific questions, and that can take some time to think through and respond to. We put a lot of effort into taking time to consider the best advice and suggestions, and we always get back to people.

So then it's very frustrating to hear that people haven't received our return email. Frustrating and disappointing for customers too! It's hard to know how often it happens, because I guess people just don't get back in touch again if they think we haven't bothered to reply to them.

Mostly it seems to be down to over-active spam filtering, so if you haven't heard from us then it's worth checking your spam or junk mailbox. Or your trash. Unfortunately though, it could be that our email gets filtered out before it even gets to your mailboxes. Sometimes, if you contact us via our contact form, and there's a small mistake on typing in the email address, our reply bounces back to us, sometimes straightaway, sometimes days later, (at least then we know it didn't arrive, but we still can't send a reply).

So, if you haven't heard from us within 2 days, latest, something's gone wrong. Please don't give up - check your spam, junk or trash. Forward your email again, or give us a ring. Even better, put your contact number on your email so that we can call you. Please don't think that we can't be bothered to get back to you, it's just not how we work.
